Ritter Norton Architects (formerly known as Ritter Architects) is a nationally recognized award-winning small architecture firm. Based in Alexandria, Virginia, the firm provides a full range of architecture, interior design, and master planning services to both public and private sector clients. We have completed a wide range of commercial and institutional projects including libraries, schools, recreation facilities, cultural buildings, interior office renovations, and large scale master planning projects ranging in construction value from $50k to $100M+. Founded in 1974 by James W. Ritter, FAIA, the firm has a long established reputation for outstanding client service and design excellence.

Ritter Norton Architects is also the recipient of the 2010 T. David Fitz-Gibbon award for “over ten years of distinctive architecture,” the highest award given to a firm by the Virginia Society AIA.
Ritter Norton Architects has a team of LEED accredited staff members and is committed to green and sustainable design approaches in all of our base building and interior work. This effort is led by firm principal Derek Norton, AIA LEED AP. Our have completed multiple LEED Gold certified projects and have several other projects with LEED certification pending.
Ritter Norton Architects (RNA) has a successful 40 year track record managing and coordinating complex multi-disciplinary A&E efforts. We are highly experienced in all phases of renovation, alteration, and new construction work including concept design and planning, construction documents, cost estimating, and construction administration. Although our body of work is very diverse, about 3/4 our projects over the last 15 years have been interior renovations and additions. We have completed hundreds of office renovations and tenant fit-outs for about a dozen government agencies as well as private sector clients.
