Lorton Library

Lorton Library was the first attempt by Fairfax County to build a community library that served not only as a repository of knowledge, but also as a meeting place for the adjacent neighborhoods and for other civic functions. We used brick to enclose the main reading room, the heart of the library, by forming straight bearing walls and curved nonbearing walls around the space.
